A person’s ability to heal is often compromised by diabetes, renal disease, autoimmune disorders and other common illnesses. A delay in wound healing can result in severe infection, disability, deformity, or amputation. At the South Texas Regional Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center, we use advanced technology to provide comprehensive wound care management for patients with difficult to heal wounds.

ADVANCED THERAPIES

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO)
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy consists of delivering 100% oxygen at double the atmospheric pressure to enable the body to heal. The therapy aids in treatment of wounds that have not responded to traditional wound care methods. Hyperbaric oxygen treatments have been proven effective on non-healing diabetic wounds, necrotizing infections, gas gangrene and other types of hard-to-heal wounds.

Wound Care Services
Included in our patient treatment plans are services such as:

· non-surgical skin grafting
· negative pressure therapy

· IV therapy
· nutrition counseling

Partnering with Your Primary Care Physician
Continuity of care with your primary physician is of significant importance. Computerized documentation is provided to your physician keeping them updated on your progress at the center. A wound care analysis is also available during your course of care to help you keep track of your healing.

History of Care
The STR Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center has been providing service since 1985 to patients under the medical supervision of a certified hyperbaric physician. The physician and staff members have received advanced wound care and hyperbaric training.

Donald Krampetz, D.O., CWS is the medical director for STR’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Department and was named STRMC’s 2007 Physician of the Year. He has been medical director since 2001 and has advanced certification in wound care since 2005.
