QUALITY MEDICAL TEAM
The team includes director of medical imaging Barbara Lewis, three diagnostic medical sonographers, a full-time registered nurse, five radiology assistants, two radiology transcriptionists and 10 registered radiologic technologists: Three are registered mammography technologists, three are registered CT technologists, two perform nuclear medicine tests and two perform MRI exams. The department is served by Radiology Associates of San Antonio, Monday through Friday and is available 24 hours per day by teleradiography. And with orders from your physician, we can perform the tests on an outpatient basis and quickly send the results to the doctor or facility you choose.
ADVANCED CARE
Upgrading to new technology is a never-ending process in the world of diagnostic imaging and STRMC is no exception. Recently, a dual-head nuclear medicine spect scanner was installed in the nuclear medicine department, enabling the community to have cardiac perfusion scans (which measure the amount of blood in your heart at rest and during exercise) and all diagnostic nuclear medicine exams performed locally. A second portable diagnostic x-ray unit was added for critical patients who need a bedside exam.
The goal at STRMC’s diagnostic imaging department is to provide patients with quality diagnostic exams with five-start customer service, close to home.
