(Jourdanton, TX) South Texas Regional Medical Center (STRMC) partnered with Methodist Healthcare to bring a specially trained diabetes educator, Sylvia Villegas, to the community free of charge on Wednesday, June 25th.
The seminar served as an excellent opportunity for citizens of the local community and neighboring areas to learn more about the life altering disease. Those in attendance learned how to differentiate between Type I and Type II diabetes and what methods can be attempted to successful manage either form of the illness. Villegas explained how good diet and exercise regimens can positively impact diabetes and improve one's quality of life.
For more information on diabetes, please visit STR's Senior Circle Center located at 1320 W. Oaklawn, Suite H & L. A diabetic tool kit belonging to Senior Circle's Resource Center is available for use at the facility.
