STR's Sleep Center recently opened its doors to the community, fellow physicians and hospital staff alike at the June 5th Open House Event. The gathering served as perfect platform to showcase the Center's new technology and amenities, which were introduced after partnering with new service provider—South Texas Sleep Diagnostics (STSD). The event also allowed for the presentation of new director Laurie Carnevale, who has worked for the hospital as a Respiratory Therapist for nearly four years.

STSD's clinical coordinators, Trae and Joanie Gaenzel, provided detailed tours through the sleep diagnostic rooms and answered questions regarding the free sleep evaluations which STR is currently providing to interested patients. Dr. Nasir Syed, pulmonologist is the Medical Director of the Sleep Center.

Physicians Chun Wang Tan, M.D., cardiologist; and William McQueen, M.D., otolaryngologist; joined Joanie Gaenzel in the symbolic "Ribbon Cutting Ceremony" by slicing into the large cake decorated with an oversized edible ribbon. Connie Hurley attended the open house as representation for STR's Board of Trustees and the Healthy Woman Advisory Council.

Atascosa County is fortunate to have this Sleep Center facility and the talented physicians who are capable of a diagnosing and treatment sleep disorder patients so close to home.

STR thanks the entire community for their support of the Sleep Center, as well as their participation at this event.
