Adriana Williams, RN honored at Hospital Week Celebration
(Jourdanton, TX) – When South Texas Regional Medical Center (STRMC) asked former patients to nominate nurses who exceeded expectations, the community responded with an incredible number of nominations. The Patient Choice Award recognizes the exceptional care, comfort and compassion offered by the nurses at STRMC, and honors one nurse in particular.
Combining the most anticipated weeks of healthcare celebration, National Nurse’s Week and Hospital Week, May 12th was selected as the awards day to honor this year’s Patient Choice Award winner, Adriana Williams, RN.
Adriana Williams, RN, BNS, is the Trauma Program Coordinator for STR’s Emergency Department. Williams began her career at STRMC over a decade ago, in January of 1998. Since her hire, Adriana has worked in the capacity of a Licensed Vocational Nurse, Registered Nurse and now doubles with community educational duties in her role as a Trauma Coordinator. As Trauma Coordinator, Williams helps promote the STR Injury Prevention Program initiatives to the community. Included in her repertoire of injury prevention are proper infant car seat installment classes, bicycle safety education and drunk driving prevention.
Gerardo Flores, Chief Nursing Officer and Associate Chief Executive Officer; awarded Williams her framed certificate and bonus check in recognition of her achievement.
Why would STRMC ask former patients to be so involved in spotlighting an exceptional nurse, rather than making the choice internally?
“At STRMC, all of our nurses do an exceptional job at delivering quality care to our community’s patients each and everyday. It is impossible for nurse management to single out one nurse when there are so many nurses throughout our distinct departments that our caring for our patients,” says Gerardo Flores, CNO/ACEO for South Texas Regional Medical Center. “That’s why we asked patients to help us make the choice. Their feedback and experiences about the things that matter most to them as patients, on a very personal level, are what enables us to honor one of our many great nurses.”
STRMC wishes to congratulate and thank Adriana Williams and her family for her contribution towards the enhancement of our community medical center.
