Announcing First Free Seminar of 2009

(January 16, 2009) Pleasanton, TX—It’s a new year—the ideal time to resolve to make healthier lifestyle choices! The easiest one to make is to become an active member of STR’s Healthy Woman.

Join us for the first health seminar of the year. The event is absolutely free and open to women throughout the community. Even if you are not yet a member, you are invited to attend.

To kick-off 2009, we have invited one of Atascosa County’s newest neighbors, Dr. Thomas Vuong, to be our guest speaker. Dr. Vuong opened a new medical practice called, Pleasanton Family Medicine in late 2008. This month’s event is an opportunity for everyone in attendance to not only learn more about the featured health topic for the month of January, diabetes. But also an opportunity to meet this new physician face-to-face!

This month’s Healthy Woman seminar will equip you with the tools necessary to manage your relationship with the disease. Everyone is directly tied to the disease on one or more levels. How is that true? Every woman is working to either prevent diabetes, fighting to control disease or in need of education to care for a family member already afflicted by diabetes.

South Texas Regional Medical Center’s is concerned for the health of our local diabetic population. Take this opportunity to learn more about the disease.

The seminar will address non-medicinal methods for controlling diabetics such as nutrition, diet and exercise.
