South Texas Regional Medical Center (STRMC) is proud to welcome Dr. Irfan Agha, MBBS; MRCP(UK), as Atascosa County’s newest specialist in Nephrology and Internal Medicine to their medical staff. Dr. Agha comes to this area with vast experience and much enthusiasm to provide exceptional quality care to the residents of the Tri-City area.

Dr. Agha’s professional career began in the United States at Washington University in St. Louis. It is there that he gained valuable experience in both the academic as well as private care settings. He successfully directed dialysis services at the St. Louis VA Medical Center while serving as faculty in St. Louis University.

Medical Director of the South Texas Transplant Center in McAllen
Program initiator of McAllen’s Kidney Transplant Program

Dr. Agha is the recipient numerous prestigious academic and military awards such as: the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and American Transplant Society’s Young Investigator’s Award; The Knowlton Foundation’s Incentive for Excellence Award in 2000; and The Quaid-e-Azam Gold Medal for overall best graduate of the Army Medical College Session 1986-1991.
