South Texas Regional Medical Center (STRMC) celebrated Doctor’s Day with a hospital-wide reception on Monday, March 30, 2009. The reception served as a platform to announce STRMC’s 2008 Physician Awards.

This year’s most celebrated doctor was Gilberto Cadavid, M.D., recipient of the Physician of the Year honor. In addition, Physician Choice Awards were bestowed upon: Abimbola Banjo, M.D., Best Attitude Award; Janice Ford, M.D., Best Patient Advocate and Rounder Award; Michael McFarland, M.D., Best Sense of Humor; and winning three of the awards is Ric Montemayor, M.D., for Best Teacher Award; Most Likely to Attend Committee Meetings Award and Best Attention to Detail Award.

All votes for awards came directly from STRMC staff members, who wish to congratulate and thank all physicians for the meaningful work that they perform for our community each day.
