South Texas Regional Medical Center (STRMC) is proud to welcome Carlos F. Morales, M.D., F.C.C.P, as Atascosa County’s newest specialist in pulmonology to their medical staff.
American Board Certifications
Dr. Morales is American Board Certified in the areas of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He also has a special qualification in the discipline of Sleep Medicine.
Academic and Professional Background
Dr. Morales received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University Of Puerto Rico School Of Medicine in 1984. He later completed his residency at Wilford Hall United States Air Force (USAF) Medical Center at the Lackland, Texas Air Force Base from 1985-1987. He then trained in Aerospace Medicine Primary Class at USAF School at Brooks Air Force Base until 1988. Dr. Morales returned to Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center to complete a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, while also receiving training in Sleep Medicine from 1990-1993.
Academic Honors
He is the recipient of prestigious academic awards such as the American Medical Association’s Physician Recognition Award in the years 1990-1996; Best Fellow Teaching Award, Department of Medicine (Internal Medicine Residency) for Wilford Hall 1992-1993; the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award for Continuing Medical Education 1993; and Departmental Teaching Award for Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine Department for Wilford Hall 1991-1992.
Military Awards, Research and Publication
Dr. Morales has several military accolades such as: Air Force Commendation Medal; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award (WHMC); National Defense Service Medal for Desert Storm and Humanitarian Service Medal. He is also an esteemed member of the American Thoracic Society and a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
Dr. Morales has extensive experience in performing investigative research for pharmaceutical companies and has published numerous articles in respected medical journals. He looks forward to utilizing his quarter century of experience in the medical field to provide our community with excellent pulmonary care.

Dr. Morales is now accepting new patients for consult at the Multi-Specialty Clinic located in the Steinle Medical Building in Jourdanton. He is seeing patients several Tuesdays each month. Please call (210)616-9999 to schedule your appointment.
