Announcing 2009-2010 Healthy Woman Platinum Partners More Precious Than Ever!

(JOURDANTON, TX — September 30, 2009) — As plans for Healthy Woman’s 5th Anniversary come to light, so does the group of local supporters who help make this year round women’s health program a reality in Atascosa County. The 2009-2010 Healthy Woman Platinum Partners are equally as precious and valuable as the metal itself.

This year’s Platinum Partner group is comprised of six community businesses and professionals. They are Alejandra Moreno, M.D., board certified pediatrician; Cosmic Creations Floral Design; Nest Feathers; Pleasanton Express; Sign Co. Graphics; and South Texas Sleep Diagnostics. Each of these partners has benevolently donated $2,000 each to support the Healthy Woman’s mission of educating and empowering the lives of local women and the families whom they support. With the anniversary celebration drawing near, each week leading up to the event will feature every Platinum Partner’s unique story that ties them to our community and to the mission of Healthy Woman.

Alejandra Moreno, M.D., joined the medical staff of South Texas Regional Medical Center in August of last year.  She and well-known local pediatrician, Lana Morgan, share a practice in Jourdanton that provides a full range of pediatric services for the families of our community.

Dr. Moreno’s residency experience at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX, has given her a profound understanding of pediatric needs in South Texas. She believes that the foundation for good healthcare for children will always begin with education and resources available to parents.

Dr. Moreno says, “I choose to support Healthy Woman because they choose to support the women of this community. They are a consistent source of free and easy to understand medical and health education and our entire community benefits from their resources.” She looks forward to partnering with Healthy Woman to deliver health presentations and materials both in English and Spanish to educate the community on pediatric topics such as: safety and injury prevention; asthma; allergies; fever; tonsillitis; healthy weight and physical activity; and breastfeeding.

South Texas Regional Medical Center’s Healthy Woman is proud to partner with Dr. Moreno. Her skills, talents and compassion are exactly the qualities that the program needs to thrive in 2010. To find more information about Dr. Moreno, visit www.strmc.com under the “Find a Physician” tab.
