Jourdanton, TX— A truly inspiring patient reunion was hosted by South Texas Regional Medical Center’s Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department. The hospital slated the event in celebration of National Heart Health Month. This is the second annual Heart Month Reunion for the hospital.

The reunion was first hosted in February of 2008, to celebrate the lives of all STR rehab patients currently thriving thanks to rehabilitation services rendered by this hospital’s department. Patients, physicians and staff members reunited to share laughs, good food and most importantly, to give thanks for another day of continued heart health.

This year’s event was held Thursday, February 12th at 4 o’clock in the afternoon in the STR Heart and Lung Center Lobby. Laurie Carnevale, Director of the Cardiac and Pulmonary Department, together with April S. Smith, R.N. for Cardiac Rehab; welcomed their patients and members of other STR Departments to the reunion. Patients gathered to share their personal accounts of cardiovascular disease and medical triumph. Among the former patients in attendance was William (Bill) Rodis, heart attack survivor and upcoming guest speaker for the February Healthy Woman Seminar.

The Healthy Woman Seminar is on Thursday, February 26th at 5:30pm. Free blood pressure checks will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by presentations by William Rodis and Dr. Chun Wang Tan, cardiologist for South Texas Heart Clinic.

The event is free. Those desiring to attend may call 830-769-5353 to leave a reservation by phone. Healthy Woman members can also register online at www.strmc.com. If you are a Healthy Woman member and have forgotten your User Name required for online registration, you can reset your information automatically from the website if you have a valid email account already on file.
