Go Red! STRMC's Cardiopulmonary Patients Celebrate National Heart Month

(FEBRUARY 1, 2008) JOURDANTON, TX — The Cardiopulmonary Department at South Texas Regional Medical Center (STRMC) celebrated the kick-off of National Heart Health Month by participating in Wear Red Day.

Wear Red Day, celebrated nationally on February the 1st, is an event designed to promote the general public's awareness of heart disease and demonstrate our country's support for those afflicted through the unified display of red colored attire on this one day.

The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Unit at STRMC understands the importance of good heart health. It is their daily mission to help design and implement activities that can aid in the restoration of the best possible quality of life to their patients who are afflicted with cardiac and pulmonary problems.

On Wear Red Day, current and graduate patients of the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Unit; unit staff; Dr. Chun Wang Tan, Cardiologist; and Dr. Tan's South Texas Heart Clinic staff; gathered to celebrate their unified strides towards improved heart health in this community. During the event, some patients exercised while others discussed their health progress with one another. Dr. Tan took the opportunity to congratulate many of his patients for their committed efforts towards an improved heart healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Chun Wang Tan will be the keynote speaker for the February STR Healthy Woman Seminar featuring a discussion on Women's Heart Health. The event is slated for Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Healthy Woman Center located at 1320 W. Oaklawn Suite L. For more information about the event, women are encouraged to call (830) 769-5353.
