This month's Healthy Woman event is slated for tomorrow, Thursday, July 31st at six o'clock in the evening. The seminar's discussion is "The Hot Seat: Successfully addressing sensitive preteen and teen subjects of interest in Atascosa County." Keynote speakers are local healthcare providers, Diki Garcia, FNP; and Melody Langston, R.N., STR Director of Women's Services.
Both Garcia and Langston will address frequent misconceptions, questions and other health and medically related issues that are currently of interest amongst Atascosa children. They will provide clinical information and suggested methods for conveying such information to your adolescent in a manner that is easy to understand and age appropriate. In addition, members will learn how to engage their youngster to feel comfortable initiating discussions about sensitive subjects.
This event is a great educational tool. It gives an opportunity for mothers, grandmothers, aunts and other caregivers learn about what trends and situations may be influencing their adolescent's decision-making for critical life choices. Topics addressed will be relevant for both males and females.
