South Texas Regional Looking for Patients’ Choice in Nursing

(April 3, 2008) Jourdanton, TX– Once again, the Patient Choice Award will recognize the quality care, comfort and compassion offered by the nurses at South Texas Regional Medical Center, honoring one nurse in particular. Continuing the tradition of the last few years, this program, which solicits input from the community, will culminate with one nurse at South Texas Regional Medical Center receiving the Patient Choice Award during Nurses' Week, May 6 through May 12.

Why would South Texas Regional Medical Center be asking former patients to be so involved in spotlighting an exceptional nurse, rather than making the choice internally?

"Sometimes it's just too hard to spot one nurse when there are so many nurses in our hospital doing such an incredible job caring for our patients," says Carrie Steinle, Human Resource Director for South Texas Regional Medical Center. "That's why we are asking patients to help us make the choice. They see the little things that matter so much on a very personal level."

So, if you, or a family member, have come to South Texas Regional Medical Center for inpatient, outpatient or emergency care in the last year and you have a nurse you'd like to thank for going the extra mile, don't miss this chance. Nominations for the 2008 Patient Choice Award will be accepted until April 30. To nominate a nurse, send the nurse's name and a few paragraphs explaining your nomination, along with your own name (and the name of the patient) address, and phone number.

Be sure to email, mail or fax your nomination by April 30. Email nominations to Lydia_Brown@chs.net or mail to: Lydia Brown, Administrative Office, South Texas Regional Medical Center, 1905 Hwy.97E, Jourdanton, TX, 78026 Fax: 830-769-5264.
