JOURDANTON, TX — In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM), STR's Healthy Woman program has organized a seminar to educate women about the importance of early detection, prevention and advanced surgical treatment methods for breast cancer. Local surgeon, Maria "Angie" Palafox, M.D., is slated to be the keynote speaker for the October Healthy Woman seminar.

Dr. Palafox says, "I am delighted to be able to have a captive audience through the Healthy Woman program, which will allow me to share essential health information to the women of our community." Palafox continues, "The information imparted may just become a lifesaving message for one our members, and that brings me great satisfaction as a member of the Atascosa medical community."

The October Healthy Woman seminar is the last educational seminar for the 2008 calendar year. The seminar will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 6 pm at the Healthy Woman Center, located at 1320 Oaklawn, Suite H&L.
