A Look Inside: One Senior Circle Ambassador's experiences with nuclear medicine

Margaret Guidry has been a member of Senior Circle (SC) since May 9, 2002.  She is one of nine Ambassadors who devote their time towards the enhancement of STR’s Senior Circle Chapter. Guidry helps to organize projects such as: the SC Newsletter assembly; line dance classes, Senior Circle Ambassador Meetings and the organization’s call tree. 

Naturally, a person as active as Margaret Guidry was concerned that her busy schedule would be disrupted by a four day nuclear medicine study required by her physician to examine her knee. Guidry expressed her concern to Charlie Albarran, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist whom she met as she arrived for her first day of nuclear medicine studies.

Albarran, a five year employee with South Texas Regional Medical Center, responded immediately to Guidry’s concerns by offering various planning options to better accommodate her examinations. Albarran was able to reduce the amount of trips that Guidry would make to STR to complete the series of procedures by consolidating the exams back to back.

Margaret Guidry was delighted to learn that she could reduce the amount of time spent shuffling back and forth between these much needed examinations. She was also very impressed by how complimentary Albarran spoke of his co-worker, Jeff Sigel. Sigel was scheduled to perform an x-ray on her, which was ordered in conjunction with the nuclear medicine studies.

In talking with Sigel during her x-ray, she learned that Sigel was also very confident and complimentary regarding Albarran’s competencies in nuclear medicine. Guidry says, “I felt completely at ease by their mutual confidence in one another.  This relived much of my anxiety as I realized that I was in competent and experienced hands throughout my series of procedures.”
