South Texas Regional Medical Center is fortunate to have Dr. James P. Dorman, American Board Certified in Surgery. Dr. Dorman has more than 30 years of surgical experience and is an excellent addition to STRMC’s medical staff. He earned a doctor of medicine degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Dorman went on to complete a general surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and a surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Tumor Institute in Houston, TX.  Dr. Dorman also brings with him 26 years of military service in the United States Navy.

The office is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. for scheduling appointments. New patients welcome and most insurances accepted.

Please check with your insurance provider to determine if a referral is required for specialty visits. If a referral is required you must see your primary care physician and they must deem it necessary for you to see a General Surgeon.

Services Provided

The Atascosa Surgical Associates’ clinic provides consultation for general and surgical conditions and pre-and post op follow-up for these patients and others with traumatic injuries, wound management, suture removal and patient education. Minor surgical procedures are also performed in the clinic.
